Alone with Him

My awesome husband, Garrett

     Getting married and moving away from  my friends and family has afforded me a special opportunity -- the chance to re-evaluate my walk with God without the comforts of following the people who are familiar to me.
     It's been a little scary at times.
     It's been super fun at times.
     But it has been good.  My husband and I are taking the opportunity to search the Scriptures and ask ourselves WHY we do or don't do something.  This year has been especially good, as Garrett has taken the lead on most of this.
     Our guiding rule is to find out what God has for us, regardless of what we wanted for ourselves, and to find out the truth of His Word, regardless of what we expected it to say.
      And I believe that God will lead us to what is Right.  It's been kinda funny a few times because Garrett and I read the same verse and came up with 2 opposing ideas of what it said.  We blink at each other in surprise.  Both being stubborn people, neither of us think that we are wrong.  But, clearly, at least one of us is.
     So what do we do?  We can't be mad at each other -- that's not what Yeshua would do.  The only thing to do is to keep searching together and trust that God is going to lead both of us to the right answer eventually.
    And that journey is what this blog is about.

They Didn't Know

I learned something new in our study of Joseph -- a little gem I had never noticed before -- something that was implied but not said outright.  Here's what our commentary led us to notice: Pharoah was excited to learn that Joseph's brothers had come.  He was happy for Joseph. I had always thought this spoke well of Pharoah and Joseph's relationship.  That the Pharoah would be happy for him.  That Pharoah would want to meet Joseph's family. But the commentary pointed something else out. Joseph hadn't told Pharoah of his brother's sins. If Joseph had told Pharoah, Pharoah probably would have been ready to rush to Joseph's rescue and help him punish his brothers for betraying Joseph and selling him into slavery. The Fall Feasts - 2021

  This year, the three Biblical Fall Feasts will all come in September.   As we prepare to celebrate them together, you may be asking “What are these Feasts?”   So let’s take a look at them, starting with the first one, Yom T’Ruah. Thank you, Daddy

(A picture I found online) Daddies are so important. For real. I could spend years telling you about the ways my Dad influenced my life for the better -- lessons he taught me, the love and security he gave me, the example he set for me, the way he understood me better than anyone else. But we'll save that for another day because my shining example this month is from my father-in-law. I think I've mentioned (a few times) how awesome my husband is.  Like, seriously, awesome. But some of those characteristics that I admire in Garrett, are there in his dad...and even in his grandfather.  And I can see how these things have been passed down through generations of godly men. Love -- the complete denying of your own needs to meet someone else's. Patience/Forgiveness/Grace -- the willingness to allow for mistakes to be made, without throwing them up in people's face or making them feel guilty or inferior.
